Bus strike suspended to allow for talks

Strike action by Bus Eireann workers has been suspended for 48 hours following a breakthrough in talks at the Labour Relations Commission last night.

Unions and management agreed to attend the talks after thousands of passengers were left stranded after pickets were placed on bus routes across the country.

At the request of the LRC, Bus Eireann agreed to suspend the implementation of a Labour Court recommendation affecting workers terms of employment and unions in-turn suspended all forms of industrial action.
