Strabane SDLP Cllr says 40 civil service jobs for Strabane a “token gesture”

A Strabane SDLP Cllr has said that the decentralisation of 40 jobs to Strabane is nothing more than a "token gesture".

It was announced yesterday that 40 civil service jobs would be relocated to Strabane within the next 18 months.

Strabane Cllr Patsy Kelly says while he welcomes the 40 jobs, he feels it is merely a move to soften the blow of of missing out on 800 civil service jobs to Ballykelly:

But West Tyrone MLA Michaela Boyle is insisting the move is not to make up for the loss of the civil service jobs to Ballykelly.

Michaela Boyle says it's the first decentralisation project announced for Strabane, and it should be welcomed......
