Government plans first water bills in 2015

The government is seeking permission to delay the payment of water charges by a full year until January 1st 2015.
The decision to delay the roll-out of water charges results from the slow progress being made installing water meters in homes across the country.
Enda Kenny says charges would be levied from October 2014 but home-owners would only start paying them three months later.
But he has told the Dail that the government is seeking approval from the EU, ECB and IMF.
“The charge will be levied but paid 3 months later – so..the fees would..be paid from the 1st of January 2015” he said.
“Ministers have to make that case to the Troika and have to have approval from the Troika” he added.
