Cllr Tadhg Culbert laid to rest in Letterkenny

The funeral has taken place of Cllr Tadhg Culbert.
He was buried in New Leck Cemetery after Funeral Mass in St Eunan’s Cathedral at 11 o’ clock.
The Tipperary native came to Letterkenny in 1973, working as a post office clerk. As a mark of respect, Letterkenny Post Office closed for the funeral.
His coffin was carried through the town centre by family members, friends and political colleagues, and in a poignant moment, it was laid on a trestle outside the post office where he had worked for almost 40 years, and just metres away from a memorial plaque marking the opening of new street improvements on Lower Main Street in 2010 by Mayor Tadhg Culbert.
