Councillor says locals had a lucky escape from injury following Derry building collapse

Local representatives have said it is extremely lucky that no one was injured today when a three story derelict building collapsed in the Fountain Estate area of Derry.
The building in Kennedy place, which was once a synagogue and is the former headquarters of the Ulster Unionist Party in the City, collapsed and buried a car belonging to a local resident.
The building has been derelict and fallen into a state of disrepair over the last twenty years.
Northland Councillor John Boyle says if this had happened at any other time of the day, someone could have been killed:
