Mc Conalogue says government refuses to guarantee future of small schools

Donegal North East TD Charlie Mc Conalogue says serious concerns remain for small schools after the government refused to give a guarantee in the Dail this afternoon that none would close.
In the Dail this afternoon, the Fianna Fail Education Spokesperson questioned Junior Minister Sean Sherlock on the ongoing review of small schools.
The minister said the process is ‘still ongoing’, and while he agreed with Deputy Mc Conalogue that small schools are important, he stopped short of making any commitments………

Deputy Mc Conalogue told the Dail that this ongoing review, coupled with the cutting of capitation grants and scrapping of the minor works scheme mean there are worrying times ahead for many schools in Donegal and across the country………..
