Fire service brings Annagry blaze under control

Several fire crews have this morning been fighting what’s has been described as “a massive” gorse fire in the Culacrick area of Annagry.
The fire burned for several hours and threatened a number of homes for a time.
5 fire crews began to battle the  blaze 3am and brought it under control shortly after 11a,
Meanwhile, there has been no let up for fire crews in the West of the county in recent days who have been battling gorse fires day and night.
Fire crews from Gweedore and Dungloe were called to a gorse fire in the Carrickataskin area of Derrybeg last night.
The fire was burning close to some houses in the area and the Gweedore crew, the first responders, summoned the Dungloe brigade to assist them.
The fire was brought under control shortly after 11pm but fire officers remained on scene for a time to ensure all burning matter was completely extinguished.
There was a less serious gorse fire in the Maghery area outside Dungloe earlier in the evening.
