SIPTU meets to discuss Croke Park Two

SIPTU’s National Executive Council will meet today to discuss the proposals on the new Croke Park deal.
President Jack O’Connor has said public servants would be better served by one centralised agreement with the Government on pay and conditions, but says he isn’t sure the current deal is the right one.
A decision on whether SIPTU’s Executive Council will recommend acceptance or rejection of the deal to its members is not expected until a further meeting on Tuesday, the 14th of March.
Meanwhile, the Unite trade union will make a recommendation today to its membership to vote against the new deal.
The Union, which represents around 20-thousand public sector workers, walked out of the negotiations at the LRC before the proposal was completed.
