Government backbencher slams property tax proposals

A government backbencher has criticised his finance minister for not going far enough in helping people with pyrite hit homes when it comes to the property tax.
Only those with the worst hit homes will be exempt from the tax – until remedial work is carried out.
Fine Gael TD Alan Farrell – who himself has found pyrite in his home – says excluding all pyrite hit homes would cost 3.75 million euro at most.
And the Dublin North deputy says the coalition has reneged on a promise:
