Gardai begin work to rule in protest against further cuts

Two garda unions are beginning a work to rule today – as they implement the next step in their campaign to oppose further pay cuts.
Rank and file gardaí from the GRA and the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors will refuse to use their personal mobile phones, laptops and vehicles on the job.
It also involves withdrawing consent to be available for non-public duty.
The Government has stated it wants to make savings of a further 1 billion euro from the Croke Park extension talks.
The AGSI says they are also planning further action with colleagues in the 24/7 Frontline Services Alliance.
