Council meeting finally opens after private discussions dominate morning

Today’s reconvened meeting of Donegal County Council finally got underway shortly after 12  noon today, after members spent the morning in private session to discuss a matter related to the minutes of a meeting last year.
However, a short time later, the meeting adjourned for lunch.
A large contingent of local and national media had gathered at County House in Lifford in the expectation that County Manager Seamus Neely would brief the council on the burning of a house in Ballyshannon which the council had decided to buy for a local Traveller family.
It’s now hoped that will happen this afternoon.
Meanwhile,  Cllr Seamus O’Domhnaill has hit out at today’s delay, saying this has become an all too regular occurrence.
He says the council isn’t functioning properly at a time when it is most needed……
