Boxing – Magee Impressed With Donegal Seniors

Legendary sports commentator Jimmy Magee has been praising the performances of the Donegal fighters at this year’s National Senior Championships.
Finn Valley’s Jason Quigley and Illies Golden Gloves William Mc Laughlin won their respective semi finals at the National Stadium over the weekend.
European U23 Gold medallist Quigley, booked his place in the Middleweight final after a 17-14 win over Conrad Cummings of Belfast. This was another good performance for the FinnValley man who the previous week beat the defending champion and Irish Olympic team captain Darren O’Neill.  St. Michael’s Roy Sheehan now stands between Quigley and a first senior crown.
William Mc Laughlin will also be in Final action this Friday against Adam Nolan in the Welterweight decider. The Illies man who was the 69kg champion in 2009 reached the final with a 16-14 win over Athy’s John Joe Joyce.

Also at the Seniors on Saturday night, there was defeat for Raphoe’s Caroline Connelly.  In the Ladies Middleweight Final, Caroline lost to the reigning champion Sinead Kavanagh of Drimnagh.
