The Can't Pay, Won't Pay organisation is urging people to continue boycotting the septic tank registration process, dismissing a series of meetings being hosted by Fianna Fail over the next two weeks as "an exercise in opportunism".
Fianna Fail are suggesting to people with problematic tanks that they should register before the February 1st deadline in order to avail of the grants. The first of ten meetings is in Glenties on Thursday.
However, Can't Pay, Won't Pay are reiterating their belief that the actual cost of the necessary upgrades will be considerably higher that the 4,000 euro grant ceiling.
Spokesperson Michael Mc Giolla Easbuig says people simply cannot afford to pay, and that should be the core message to government.
