Gardai reiterate appeal as progress is made in Aghilly investigation

Gardai in Buncrana say they are making progress in the investigation into the assault and robbery of 96 year old Margaret Lilly at Aghilly in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A man wearing dark clothing and a balaclava entered her home, punched her in the ribs, gagged her and left the house with money and cards. Two men wearing dark clothes and speaking in what were described as 'local' accents were subsequently seen leaving the area and heading towards Tullydish.

Speaking on the Shaun Doherty Show today, Inspector David Murphy confirmed progress is being made, but said while they are positive about the direction of the investigation, it's too early to say if an arrest is imminent.

He reiterated the garda appeal for information.............
