DLDC says Donegal needs a focussed development strategy

The CEO of Donegal Local Development Company says anyone who claims that Donegal people are whinging or playing the poor mouth is ignoring the truth of the level of deprivation in the county.

In a special feature on Donegal's unemployment and dependency levels in today's Irish Times Caoimhin Mc Aoigh says in the 17 years he has been at the helm of DLDC, he has never seen the county come anywhere other than last in any socio economic deprivation statistics.

Mr Mc Aoidh says there is an abundance of community groups and development organisations working together in the county, but there is no national strategy for Donegal, and no commitment to targeted investment.........
