O’Domhnaill says septic tank grant scheme must be expanded

A Fianna Fail Councillor in Donegal is welcoming the announcement by Environment Minister Phil Hogan of a grant scheme of up to 4000 euro for households whose septic tanks require upgrading.
However, Seamus O’Domhnaill claims the announcement doesn’t go far enough, particularly when the regulations outlining the standards septic tanks will have to achieve have not yet been published.
He says the cap should be removed, and in common with Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay and other parties, he is claiming that pressure from opponents forced the minister to come up with the grant scheme.
Now, Cllr O’Domhnaill says the regulations must be published, so people know what they are registering for, and as well as that, the terms of the grant must be improved…….
