Malin Head Coastguard station will not close

The Minister for Tourism, Sport and Transport has confirmed this afternoon that Malin Head Coastguard Station will not close.
Malin Head Coastguard Station was under threat of closure following publication of the Fisher Report, which recommends a reduction in the number of coastguard stations.
The report is still being considered by government but today Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar confirmed that the country’s three main coastguard centres would remain open.
