Carndonagh and Milford RDF closures won’t be reversed – Minister

The Government has said there will be no reversal of the decision to cut funding of the Reserve Defence Force by half.
Minister for Justice Alan Shatter is reducing the size of the Force and cutting its funding by 50 per cent following a value-for-money report.
As a result the standalone units of the reserve forces in Carndonagh and Milford are amongst those that will close across the country – however the reserve facility in Letterkenny will be retained.
The issue was raised in the Dáil by Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn who highlighted the impact it will have in Inishowen………

Minister Paul Kehoe says the decision had to be made due pressure on government finances – he also had this to say about Sinn Fein’s request for the cuts to be reversed……..
