Long term plan to prevent Raphoe flooding progressing

Donegal County Council has been told that tender documents for a full feasibility study into flood prevention works in Raphoe should be published this week, with specific proposals expected within a year.
The news emerged during a briefing from consultants engaged in the North Western Flood Risk Assessment and Management project which is currently underway.
It is assessing 27 different areas of Donegal, but Raphoe has been removed from the project and is being fast tracked because of the recent history of the town.
Project Manager Aidan Harney told members that the North West project will not be complete until 2015, but by this time next year, they will have the data needed to formulate a long term plan for Raphoe:
