The dramatic fall in house construction may be bottoming out.
That’s according to the authors of the National Housing Construction Index.
The index shows the number of projects that started construction is 10 per cent down on the same period last year – but that’s an improvement on the start of the year when they were down 14 per cent.
There was a signifcant increase in house building in Counties like Westmeath, Mayo and Sligo.
In Donegal, the number of commencement orders was down significantly, but planning applications were up by 18%, the highest increase in the country.
