Donegal Senator says Junior Minister resigned because of clash of personalities

A Donegal Labour Senator has said that the resignation of Junior Health Minister Roisin Shortall was the result of a clash of personalities.
Minister Shortall resigned her position, and the Labour Party whip last night, over what she says is a lack of support for reforms promised in the Programme for Government.
Difficulties between Minister Shortall and the Minister for Health emerged in recent weeks – and they came to a head last week, after it emerged Minister Reilly added two locations in his own constituency to a list of primary care centres.
Senator Jimmy Harte says there will be disagreements between coalition members in the run-up to the budget.
But he believes Roisin Shortalls resignation wasn’t a budgetary matter……

Meanwhile a Fine Gael Deputy has spoken out in support of the Health Minister.
Donegal North-East Deputy, Joe McHugh, says while Roisin Shortalls resignation is dissapointing, Minister James Reilly still has the support of the Government, and that was shown in a vote of confidence in him a fortnight ago….
