PARC welcomes progress on ‘L’ driver penalty points campaign

Donegal Road safety group PARC’s campaign to have penalty points extended to learner drivers for a number of offences has progressed a step.
The group want two points put on the license of a learner driver found driving unaccompanied by a fully licensed driver – they also want a two point penalty for those caught not displaying L plates.
The government is said to be considering a report on the review of the current system.
PARC spokesperson Susan Grey says they now have the support of the Road Safety Authority while the Transport Minister has also said he will look in to their request:
