Harkin says it’s in ECB’s interest to east Ireland’s debt burden

The Finance Minister Michael Noonan says he hopes to advance talks with the European Central Bank within the next fortnight for a deal on Ireland’s bank debt.
It follows positive signs of strong political support for an arrangement to make Ireland’s debt more sustainable at an informal meeting of EU finance ministers in Cyprus.
Minister Noonan said while there was no deadline for an agreement, a deal before the budget in December would suit him.
