134 Udaras jobs lost in Donegal between 2010 and 2011

Udaras Na Gaeltachta has released annual report for 2011 which shows a slow down in the rate of job losses.
While 734 jobs were created last year – there was a net loss of 104 jobs overall.
134 jobs were lost in Uduras supported companies in Donegal between 2010 and 2011.
The report shows that employment levels in Údarás client companies remain stable at 7,000 full-time jobs while 900 participants on social employment schemes
At total of 734 new jobs were created in Gaeltacht enterprises in 2011, a similar level to that  of the previous year.
Udaras says a most encouraging trend is the slowdown in job losses. The number of jobs lost over the past year is at a significantly lower level than that experienced over the last number of years,  with a 40% decrease in the number of jobs lost in 2011 compared to 2009.
Udaras believes this is evidence that its strategy of focusing on supporting existing  businesses, is having a positive effect on job maintenance.
Where there were job losses, companies trading in the domestic market were those mainly affected.
Údarás na Gaeltachta approved projects during the year which  will involve an overall projected investment of €21m in Gaeltacht companies and are expected to create some 400 jobs when up and running.
