Unions say more discussions are needed on hospital resources

As plans to move into the new bloc at Letterkenny General Hospital enter ther final phase, unions at the hospital say their cooperation is being given on an interim basis, and they will be monitoring the situation.
Impact, Siptu and the INMO say they believe that more staff and resources are needed to run the new bloc properly, and their decision to cooperate is a pragmatic one, based on the threat that the opening of the new block could have been further delayed, or even ‘mothballed’.
Their statement concludes that interim staffing decisions will only be agreed on the understanding that more talks have to take place on the staff and resources needed to develop a sustainable and deliverable service.
Impact’s Richie Carrothers says this isn’t the end of the discussions, it’s the start……..
