Potential closure of gynaecology ward at LGH very worrying – Deputy Pringle

Donegal South West Deputy Thomas Pringle says the potential closure the gynecology ward at Letterkenny General Hospital is a very worrying situation.

Speaking following yesterday's meeting of hospital management and Oireachtas members, the Independent TD said some concern has been expressed that a risk assessment backing the plan to transfer services to surgical wards was done without an on-site visit to the ward.

He also says he's been told that no members of staff were consulted.

Deputy Pringle says he was told at yesterday's meeting that this was not the case, and he's now calling on management to publish the risk assessment report.........

Meanwhile, Donegal North East TD Joe Mc Hugh has promised to make the case for more resources for Letterkenny General when he next meets with Minister James Reilly.

Deputy Mc Hugh acknowledges that it's not ideal a new Emergency Department and medical bloc is opening at the hospital next month without any additional resources............
