Niall O’Dowd to be given inaugural Tipp O’Neill Award

Buncrana Town Council and Donegal County Council have announced that the first annual Tip O Neill Donegal Diaspora Award will be given to journaslist and commentator Niall O’Dowd, one of the most prominent members of the present day Irish Diaspora.
Mr O’Dowd was born in Ireland and emigrated in his mid twenties to the US in June 1978. As a successful journalist and editor, he worked for the Irish Voice serving the Irish community, and was credited by President Bill Clinton and others with playing a pivotal role in the Irish Peace Process.
The award will be presented in Buncrana on Friday week, during a weekend of events commemorating Tipp O’Neill’s links with the town.
