Calls for compensation for farmers who lost out to algae bloom

The Irish Farmers Association is calling on the government to introduce a number of measures to ease the losses incurred by Donegal’s Shelfish Farmers as a result of Algae Bloom.
The bloom is now leaving Donegal’ shores – last month it lead to losses at a number of Donegal farms while two beaches in the south of the county were closed for a time.
The IFA has welcomed the fact that the threat of the bloom is all but gone – however Richie Flynn says farmers need to be compensated:
