ESM ratification begins today as Thomas Pringle’s challenge fails

The government will today move to formally ratify the European Stability Treaty.
It follows the failure of a legal challenge by Indpendent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle.
Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled that the European Stability Mechanism is fully compatible with the Constitution – paving the way for ratification of the treaty.
The Government will today lodge a ratification document with the General Secretariat of the European Council.
