Council seeks meeting with Hogan as SF say council should declare itself bankrupt

Donegal County Council is to seek a deputation to Environment Minister Phil Hogan in the wake of the 13% reduction in the county’s share of the Local Government Fund.
Meanwhile, the council is expected to meet in special session September to decide what adjustments need to be made to the budget.

Sinn Fein Whip Cllr Mick Quinn says the council is being faced with two stark choices – Make cuts to spending, or pursue people who haven’t paid the Household Charge.
He says there is a third way – Refuse to do either, declare the council bankrupt and led Minister Phil Hogan run the county……….
