AIB Bank to close eight rural branches in Donegal

AIB is to close eight of its rural branches in Donegal. Limited AIB services will be offered through the An Post network, and there will also be a mobile banking service in the county.
The Milford branch will close between October and December, while early next year, branches will close in Dunfanaghy, Lifford, Moville, Gweedore, Raphoe, Falcarragh and Bundoran.
Management say they incurred an operating loss of 1 point 1 billion euro in the six months to the end of June, that’s down 64 per cent on the same period last year, and costs have to be cut.
