Member of 32 County Sovereignty Committeee was victim of Derry shooting

It’s emerged that a man shot in both legs in a gun attack in Derry on Sunday night was a prominent dissident republican.
The man has been named locally as Jimmy Deery, a leading member of the 32 County Sovereignty Committeee movement.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Mr Deery was shot by members from within the dissident group in some kind of dissident dispute.
The 31-year-old was found lying wounded in the residential KIldrum Gardens area of the Creggan Estate On Sunday night.
A local women who was returning from bingo raised the alarm after being told by two men that there was a man with shotgun wounds nearby.
As she phoned for an ambulance her neighbours rushed to the scene and stayed with the shooting victim until an ambulance arrived.
Police confirmed yesterday that they were alerted just before 11pm on Sunday night.
