Willie McAteer due in court in relation to alleged financial irregularities at Anglo

Two men are due in court this afternoon, as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Anglo Irish Bank.
The former Anglo Irish Bank Director Willie McAteer, who’s 56 and originally from Rathmullan, was detained this morning – whilst a second man – who’s also in his 50s – has also been arrested.
Both men will appear before Dublin District Court this afternoon.
Reacting to today’s development, the Justice Minister said this investigation is now a matter for our independent prosecution service.
In a statement, Alan Shatter said it’s important that due process now takes place and that nothing is said which could in any way prejudice the outcome of the criminal prosecutions.
