Unfinished estates on the agenda at Letterkenny Town Council

Letterkenny Town Council has been told that while the policy in the town and the county is to encourage the formation of residents associations with a view towards resolving issues, the experience at The Fairways on the outskirts of Letterkenny suggests otherwise.
There have been long standing problems with sewage infrastructure, with the County Council saying it is trying to address a number of unfinished estates across the county.
However, moving a motion in favour of the residents, Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle said the residents have shown huge commitment to resolving the issue, and he urged County Manager Seamus Neely to revisit the issue, which he promised to do, although he cautioned there are no funds available.
Officials say they’ve been informed by the residents that the Ombudsman is already investigating the situation, and they must consider any future action very carefully.
However, Cllr Mc Monagle says that should not impact on efforts to address the problem.
