Car showroom targeted by gang in yet another burglary in Manor area

More than €100,000 of cars were stolen from Colm Dillon Car Sales in Manorcunningham in the early hours of this morning.

Three cars were stolen in the robbery.

It follows a number of robberies in the Newtowncunningham and Manorcunningham areas in the past number of weeks.

A blind, elderly man living alone in the area was targeted by burglars over the weekend, while a chip shop in the same area was also targeted.

And it has also emerged that a woman in the area, who had her house robbed, had to go and drive a member of the Gardai to the scene of the crime, as he had no patrol car.

Local Cllr Paul Canning says there is not enough Garda personnel in the area, and he says rural areas are becoming a very unpleasant place to live....
