Letterkenny Active Travel Plan to be funded by government

Letterkenny Town Council is to receive €232,000 for an active travel programme in the town, designed to encourage walking and cycling as well as promoting public transport. A town centre parking strategy is also included in the package which was announced this morning by Junior Minister Alan Kelly.
Minister Kelly says the Town Council’s application for funding was a strong one…………


The plan includes drop kerbs, tactile paving and road surface repairs in a number of areas, as well as footpath improvements in the town centre and new pedestrian and school warden crossing points in 5 schools around the cathedral area.
Senator Jimmy Harte says there’s been a marked increase in the number of people walking and cycling in Letterkenny, and that’s been recognised by Minister Kelly and his department……
