Letterkenny Active Travel Plan to be funded by government

Letterkenny Town Council is to receive €232,000 for an active travel programme in the town, designed to encourage walking and cycling as well as promoting public transport. A town centre parking strategy is also included in the package which was announced this morning by Junior Minister Alan Kelly.

The plan includes drop kerbs, tactile paving and road surface repairs in a number of areas, as well as footpath improvements in the town centre and new pedestrian and school warden crossing points in 5 schools around the cathedral area.

Senator Jimmy Harte says there's been a marked increase in the number of people walking and cycling in Letterkenny, and that's been recognised by Minister Kelly and his department......
