Phonsie Travers elected Mayor of Ballyshannon for a 3rd time

As expected Ballyshannon Town Council has elected Cllr Phonsie Travers as its next Mayor.
The Fine Gael representative replaces his party colleague John Meehan.
Fianna Fail had proposed Pat O’Malley for the position but he was defeated by five votes to four.
This evenings result will come as no surprise as Fine Gael hold five of the nine seats on Ballyshannon Town Council.
It is the third time Councillor Travers has been Mayor having previously held the post in 1990/91 and in 2004/2005.
