Rallying – Donegal International Rally Preview Pt3

We’re just two days out from the start of this year’s Donegal International Rally. Over 140 cars will start on Friday morning from An Grianan Theatre in Letterkenny.
As always the National Rally in Donegal is just as exciting as the battle of the wrc cars up front. Daniel Mc Kenna and Andrew Grennan in their escort won that title in 2011 and again are favourites for another Donegal crown. McKenna will however have his hands full with the chasing pack that includes Manus Kelly and Donal Barrett back in an escort for the weekend. Manus is hoping that he can be in the mix at the front…


There is certainly no shortage of  Escort men who will be out to topple defending National Rally Champion  McKenna. One of those is car no. 12,  Declan and Brian Boyle. The Glenties pair have had a good campaign so far this year and Declan is looking to carry that form into his home rally…

With Gary Mc Philips and Rodney Wilton not taking part this year, 2012 could see a Donegal winner in this section of the rally. Scotland’s David Bogie is once again going to try to take National honours in his Metro 6r4, but he will off course have a host of escorts on his tail.  Another crew looking to improve on last years result is Donegal’s Brian Brogan and Damien Mc Gettigan.
