Greens claim cover-up as planning review finds no evidence of wrongdoing

The Green Party has accused the government of a “cover-up job” after it declared there was no need for an independent inquiry into alleged planning irregularities in local authorities.
The former Green Environment Minister John Gormley had ordered an independent review following complaints against seven councils, including Donegal County Council.
But a new government review has found no evidence of any wrongdoing in the councils examined.
Instead it made a number of recommendations to improve the clarity, consistency, and transparency of planning decisions.
But the Green Party leader Eamon Ryan says the government has deliberately avoided confronting problems in the planning process…………..
