Letterkenny councillor to review tesco filling station planning file

A controversial decision to grant planning permission to Tesco for a filling station and second exit out of Letterkenny Shopping Centre was raised a number of times at a Letterkenny Town Council meeting last night, particularly by Cllr Jim Lynch.
Cllr Lynch questioned the planner at the meeting on a number of occasions, at one point questioning whether or not planners had read the County Retail Plan, which he claimed the decision contravenes.
This prompted County Manager Seamus Neeley to intervene, saying that he cannot accept a situation where the competence of staff is discussed in a public forum, particularly when the comments are incorrect.
Both Mr Neeley and the planner invited Cllr Lynch to meet with them to review the file. It’s an offer he says he’ll take up……….
