Donegal Relay for Life successful beyond expectations

The Donegal Relay for Life has just ended in the grounds of Letterkenny Institute of Technology, with organisers saying it was successful beyond all expectations.
At the peak of the event last night it’s estimated that over 5,000 were on the site for the Luminaria candle lighting ceremony.
From 6 o’clock yesterday to 6 this evening, 71 teams each had at least one person walking the improvised track, raising money and celebrating survival.
SInger Daniel O’Donnell, who spent most of the weekend on site and has donated a specially written song to the Irish Cancer Society says the two days have been an inspiration…………


A short time ago, Irish Cancer Society CEO John Mc Cormack told the closing ceremony that 20 people are diagnosed with cancer in Donegal every week……………
