Security alert ends in Creggan as man is due in court following bomb find on Monday

A 30 year old man is due in court in Derry facing terrorism and explosives charges. The man wass detained during an operation in the city on Monday night which led to the discovery of several viable devices in the Maureen Avenue of the Bogside.
Meanwhile, a number of people were evacuated from their homes in Derry last night during security alert in Creggan. A suspicious object was found close to St Mary’s Church at quarter to ten. It was declared a hoax after a controlled explosion and residents were allowed home just before 2 o’clock this morning.
It’s reported police came under attack with bottles and stones during the alert.
