Two people convicted of homicide-related offences are currently on the run from open prisons in Ireland - according to an opposition spokesperson on justice.
The revelation comes after another three prisoners escaped from Loughan House in Co. Cavan for a number of hours yesterday.
The inmates were apprehended in a joint operation involving Gardai, the Prison Service and the PSNI.
Loughan House is the open prison from which Donegal man Martin McDermott, convicted of the manslaughter of Garda Gary Mc Laughlin, escaped in March.
Fianna Fail's Justice Spokesman Dara Colleary says that was the most serious incident in a chani of events which shows there is a proble at Loughan House........
