Donegal’s Labour councillors to defy government on Household Charge vote

Labour Councillors in Donegal will go against the government today in support of a Sinn Fein motion on the Household charge.
Sinn Fein is calling on the county manager not to collect information from utility companies in order to pursue those who haven’t paid the household charge.
Labour whip on the Council, Frank McBrearty has said his party will support the motion.
However even if passed, the county manager can proceed with gathering the information as it is an executive function of the local authority.
