Company rules out digging for gold on or around Lough Derg

A Canadian company that has won a licence to dig for gold in parts of South Donegal has said it has no intention of ever mining for gold in or around Lough Derg.
Galantas Gold applied for the Donegal licence in an area 550 sq kms in size, covering Omagh to Castlederg and south to Pettigo in Donegal.
And while Lough Derg falls within their licence area, the company has itself excluded it for gold exploration.
Company Chief Executive Roland Phelps said the whole project is in the  very early stages and the company won’t be drilling for quite a while:
