PARC anger as penalty point loophole remains

The Minister for Transport has assured Donegal based group PARC that efforts are ongoing to close a loop hole which allows as many as 75% of drivers convicted of a road traffic offense to avoid penalty points.
As it stands, a driver summoned to court is not directed to take their license with them which means that in many cases no record of the driver receiving penalty points is ever made with the transport department.
PARC founder Susan Grey says despite numerous commitments from government, the loop hole has not been closed, she raised the issue again today with the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar:
