Burglaries up in border counties but down in the West

An analysis of burglary figures for 2011 shows a significant increase in the border counties, but a fall in the west of Ireland.
The comparative study published in today’s Irish Times shows thjere were 475 burglaries in Donegal last year, up 16% on the previous year. There was a 20% rise in Cavan / Monaghan and a 30% rise in Sligo / Leitrim.
Conversely, incidents of burglary were down 13% in Mayo and down 15% in Galway.
