Council staff told to knock on doors to collect household charge

Staff from city and town councils are to call to households that are refusing to pay the 100 euro tax.
The Irish Independent reports that Environment Minister Phil Hogan’s told the councils that they have to knock on doors to collect the money.
With just a week to go to the government’s registration deadline – around 80 percent of homeowners have yet to pay the 100 euro charge.
