1.5 million euro recovered from Donegal tax defaulters

Almost 15 million euro was recovered from tax defaulters in the final three months of last year.
According to the latest defaulters list from the Revenue Commissioners, settlements were agreed with 90 individuals and companies in the three month period of December 31st 2011.
Settlements of just over 1.5 million euro were made with revenue by people in Donegal.
The single largest settement in the county, and one of the biggest in the country was made by Mary McAnaney a cosmetic products distributor from Carrigans – she settled for 577 thousand euro for underdecleration on VAT including interest and penalties.
M and M more, Supermarket proprietor in Ballybofey settled for 180 thousand euro for underdecleration of VAT.
Alfred Ladley, a retired publican in Upper Carrigart settled with revenue for 140 thousand euro, while Gerard McLoughlin – an engineer in Gortahorl settled for 117 thousand.
There were two other settlements that exceed 100 thousand euro – Kieran Porter, Cafe and Petrol station owner in Lifford for 114 thousand and a James Boyle of Meenahalla, Glenties for100 thousand euro.
