Northern lights to be visible in Donegal tonight because of solar storm

The Earth is being battered by the largest solar storm in five years - but scientists say so far there have been no reported problems.

It was triggered by a massive solar flare earlier in the week and grew as it raced outward from the sun.

There were fears the storm could interfere with power grids, and satellites.

It's also likely this storm will lead to the Northern Lights being visible over Donegal skies tonight.
